More than 800 New Bedford area families were each given over $300 worth of food, groceries, and essentials today at the Price Rite on Hathaway Road.  Fun 107 was proud to help deliver nearly a quarter million dollars worth of food and essentials to the families in need.  Some of the people I talked to were homeless.  Some lived in the projects directly across the street.  Some were able to load the groceries into their cars.  Some didn't have a car.  Walk ups were limited to taking away what they were able to carry back to their homes.

There were representatives on hand from social services to those who we found to need further help.  The mood was as bright and cheery as the sunshine that was warming up the Price Rite parking lot.

The food boxes each contained about 25 pounds of food.  There were also boxes of toiletries containing shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shaving cream, razors, and more.

The need is real here in our community.  Thanks to the United Way, 800 families will have healthy food to cook tonight.
