8-Year-Old New Bedford Boy Survives 2nd Story Fall

An 8-year-old New Bedford boy with Down syndrome is fine after falling from the porch of his family's second-story apartment.

According to police, the boy forced open a window at his Tallman Street home while his father was cooking dinner and tumbled out of the window and off the porch.

"This seems accidental. The child is going to be fine," said New Bedford Police Sgt. John Beaudoin.

According to Beaudoin, the boy was taken to Rhode Island Hospital "as a precautionary measure" but was alert following the fall.
