$6,500 Scholarship to be Awarded by Miss New Bedford Pageant

ATTENTION PAGEANT LOVERS: The Miss New Bedford Pageant will be awarding a $6,500 Scholarship in honor of its 65th anniversary.

Interested contestants should attend an info session on August 3rd. The winner will receive a $6,500 scholarship, as well as other prizes. Other contestants will also receive scholarships.

Contestants must be between the ages of 17-24, and live, work, or go to school in New Bedford, Dartmouth, Acushnet, Fairhaven, Assonet, Freetown, Lakeville, Rochester, Wareham, Mattapoisett, or Westport. Previous experience is not required.

An information session for the pageant will be held on Thursday, August 3rd at 6pm at the Cheryl McCormack Academy of Dance, located at 731Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. In addition to the scholarship, this year's winner will also receive:

• Thousands of dollars in prizes redeemable in the community
• The opportunity to develop an amazing resume, as well as confidence, leadership, and other skills, as well as engaging in and with the issues of the community
• A year for the personal platform of the winner's choosing (anything from violence prevention to arts programming)
• The opportunity to move on to the Miss Massachusetts Pageant

The Miss New Bedford Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Massachusetts and Miss USA Pageants. It provides personal development, as well as scholarships for the contestants.

The Miss New Bedford Pageant will be held at 6pm on Saturday, September 30th at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech.
