The Newly-Crowned Miss New Bedford Visits Fun 107

Meighread Dandeneau was crowned Miss New Bedford 2018 on Saturday.

Meighread told Fun 107 that she was very comfortable competing with girls in the pageant because she knew and grew up with a good majority of them. She told us that she had been fairly confident since registration that she would win it all. Though, she admitted, when she first got on stage her nerves set in a bit when she realized her big moment was happening.

The swimsuit competition was a part of this past weekend's Miss New Bedford pageant. Meighread told us that she believes that this would most likely be the last time that the swimsuit will be a part of the Miss New Bedford competition, as the Miss America program is moving away from having that as a part of the event.

As part of the Miss New Bedford tradition, Meighread's first duty was to wake up early and appear on The Michael Rock Show on Fun 107. Her main duty throughout this year is to create awareness about strength over silence. Meighread will be going to local schools and events to spread information about consent, and other critical information on how to eliminate and handle sexual assault.

After Meighread's huge win, she celebrated at Pub 99 in Fairhaven with family and friends, where she was surrounded by great food and comfort.

Meighread Dandeneau will be competing in the Miss Massachusetts Pageant in June of 2019.
