One man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, the other sent to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, after they were attacked Sunday night while at Clasky Common Park.   One man is reported to be 56-years-old, the other is said to be 70.

The man taken to St. Luke's last night had been punched several times and had a cut to the face.  The other man suffered stab wounds, and was sent to Rhode Island Hospital this morning.   Police were told that there were assaulted by four young, white males.

Police say one of the victims lives at the Veterans transition House.   New Bedford Police Captain Steven Vicente was quoted as saying "Residents of the Transition House like to sleep in the park."
