10 Ways You are Making Your Coffee Wrong
Everyone thinks they know how to make a good coffee, but in honor of National Coffee Day here are 10 things you are doing wrong when making your coffee.
According to WCVB there are things you can avoid to make your morning coffee much better.
1. You're not buying fresh coffee
Try and stick with coffee that has been harvested within the last six months and roasted within the last couple weeks.
Like all things, don't skimp on quality
Measure twice. Thrillist recommends a coffee to water ratio of 1 to 16. That is two tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water.
Your coffee will be better if you french press or slow-pour brew.
5. You're using pre-ground coffee. Don't.
Grind you're coffee just before you brew and you will notice the difference.
6. Your water is the wrong temperature
Never boil your water, as it will burn your coffee. The ideal temerature for coffee lies between 195F and 205F.
7. You're storing your beans wrong
Don't freeze or refrigerate beans. There are five factors that can ruin you coffee: heat, light, oxygen, moisture and age.
8. You're not filtering your water
Good ingredients are essential.
9. You're not cleaning your coffee machine regularly
Clean the filer, carafe and water reservoir
10. You don't know what you like
Coffee comes in many varieties. Experiment to find what suits you most.
